We all have something to say and most of us can’t imagine not being able to make others understand us. Imagine wanting to eat a specific food and not being able to ask for it. How frustrated would you be? I know I’d get angry quickly, especially if my stomach was growling! Communication devices can be a huge resource for individuals who don’t use vocal language or struggle with it. It’s amazing to see kids finally have a way to get their thoughts, feelings, and needs across to others. These supports also model language and many times kids begin to imitate and use the vocal language on their own. Either way using a communication device is a great strategy for kids who struggle with effective communication.
