Board Certified Behavior Analyst

Martina Gerena, MS, BCBA
Martina Gerena
Martina began her career in health care as a Radiology & MRI Technician and earned her BS in radiologic studies in 2008. As the mother of a child with special needs, Martina learned how to advocate for her son which led her to become an educational advocate for The IEP Advocate, Inc. in 2015. In this position she supported families and students as they navigated the often complicated and confusing IEP process. Martina personally experienced the impact of ABA on her son’s life, and this became the driving force for her career change.

She began her formal ABA studies and started working as a Registered Behavior Technician in 2019. She earned her MS degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Florida Institute of Technology in 2021 and became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Martina has worked with individuals in homes, schools, daycares, and ABA centers.

Martina is passionate about working collaboratively with families to attain and improve developmental and daily living skills. She approaches ABA both as a provider and as a mother delivering the standard of care she would want for her own child. She believes in improving behavior and skills in a meaningful and sustainable way with the overarching goals of improving the overall quality of life, increasing access to more environments, and improving their level of independence. She loves seeing the growth in the individuals she works with just as if they were her own children.

When she is not working, Martina enjoys spending time with her husband of 17 years and their 2 beautiful sons. She enjoys going to the beach, theme parks, traveling, and just spending time with those she loves.
